One of the most important endocrine glands in your body is the thyroid. It is shaped like a butterfly. When it doesn't function properly, you may feel nervous or tired and experience muscular weekness. Sudden weight gain or loss, dry skin patches, memory loss, and irregularities in your menstrual flow are all part of a thyroid disorder. It can even cause miscarriage and infertility. Not just that, women are 4 times more prone to thyroid disorders than men. The pooled prevalence of PPTD, defined as an abnormal thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level, for the general population was 8.1%.1
